Improv Performances

With 15+ years of Improv experience (both as a director and performer), Director Lenton Lees promises to bring a consistently funny, professional improv show by adults, FOR adults, with a handful of improv veterans who have performed all over the country (and we pay them for everything they do). This is not your community theatre improv scene. We keep our cast small to ensure we only present the best local talent so you can enjoy a night of musical games, audience engagement, bad pick-up lines, and lightning-fast decision-making set up by you, the twisted viewer.

We offer a handful of popular and well-known improv formats:

Head to Head divides our cast into two, forcing them to find audience members as moral support, coaches, and often teammates. The games in this show are designed to be competitive, with clear-cut “winners,” and usually call for an audience vote.

Whose Line follows a similar format to the popular “Whose Line is it Anyway?” show. The program features many popular games, and audience interaction is paramount to everything we do.

Musical shows allow our DJ and live musicians to help bring an extra layer of complexity and creativity to beloved and original improv games. We don’t just smash a finger on a PLAY button–we bring in a live musician experienced in improvising music. There is an additional fee.

Celebration shows focus on one audience member (or a couple) with a handful of games designed to make their special night unforgettable—a show built around them. This format is perfect for someone comfortable being pulled on stage and involved in the creative process. They will not have to do anything they’re uncomfortable with, but the more engagement, the better. Everything in this show is about YOU.

Improv Jam

An improv jam (or mixer) is a performance wherein any attendee is invited to participate. Akin to an open mic for poets or comics, a jam is often a free or low-cost event organized for amateurs and held for community-building or learning purposes

If you want to introduce people to improv without a firm commitment, an Improv Jam is the solution! Our team of Improv Hosts will work with you to create an unforgettable event of brave choices, improv basics, and a TON OF FUN!

At our Improv Jam, we provide:

  • All the necessary tech equipment.
  • Game descriptions (accessible via QR code for your convenience).
  • The Goals of Improv.
    • Be A Team Player
    • Be Accepting
    • Be Affected
    • Be Believable
    • Be a Story-Teller
  • Our special ‘Jam Awards’ for players who get closest to our improv goals.

This space is free from criticism and panic but a haven to connect with fellow performers and nurture your skills. You’ll work alongside seasoned improvisers from the Coweta, Fayette, and Atlanta areas, all dedicated to bringing out your best. A guided improv show that works like an open mic. Hosted by Lenton Lees, it features professional talent to play along with the audience participants and lasts two hours. High Spirits Entertainment provides everything except the venue.

Improv Workshops

Whether you’re organizing a team-building event for adults or leading a class of youngsters, the laughter-filled world of improv is a valuable addition to any form of entertainment. Our improv workshops, designed to be both entertaining and beneficial, promise a hilariously good time for all.

From Goal 1 (accepting ideas) to Goal 6 (be a story-teller), our classes bring out the best in veterans and bring beginners up to speed through original Goals of Improv, High Spirits specific games, and a group of directors who have experienced all the highs & lows in this art. Every class is taught emphasizing the individuals and their creative wants/needs. “Be Yourself” is our top rule of improv, and we let our students shape our classes as they move along. No performer is the same, and that’s the best part of it!

The workshop experience will guide players through “5 Acts” to help them get comfortable in all aspects of improv and performing. Each Act covers several of our unique Improv Goals.

The workshop isn’t just for actors – anyone looking to develop their communication skills – no matter where you want to take those skills. It’s suitable for all levels of experience; beginners are especially welcome. Improvisation appeals to business professionals keen to improve their public speaking, teachers hoping to engage students more meaningfully, and anyone who wants to have purposeful fun while meeting new people.

In one-time workshops, we take players through each Goal of Improv, with a few exercises and games designed to highlight each skill.

  1. Be A Team Player
  2. Be Accepting
  3. Be Affected
  4. Be Believable
  5. Be a Story-Teller

With a grand emphasis on “Be Yourself.”

Make Us Break Us: An Improvised Drama

Sometimes, a breakup story is more powerful than a love story.

In Make Us Break Us, a couple receives one word to influence the story of their love (and eventual heartbreak). Audience interaction is limited in this production to just the first few minutes. Following the seed word, one member of the couple tells the story of when they met and fell for each other, and the other member tells the story of when they broke up. The following 60 minutes is an emotional, infuriating, intellectually stimulating, complicated, simple, and heartbreaking story told from milestone to milestone. Our story will portray mistakes and division, hope and forgiveness through realistic and believable characters in realistic and believable moments.

While the couple will be our primary focus, offering us glimpses into their narrative throughout the performance, other actors will depict the various friends, family members, and lovers that come into their lives. The cast size is typically between four and seven players.

All our cast members are professionals and theatre-trained to handle sensitive topics respectfully and creatively. Contact High Spirits Entertainment for information on cast availability, cost, and scheduling.
